We are looking for a Finance Analyst to join our team on a permanent basis. If you’re looking to build on your Finance journey with a company equally as ambitious as you are, then WHSmith could be right for you!

We are looking for someone to join our existing Reporting team and provide financial and analytical support to our stakeholders, providing reports & insight into our Support Office cost base. You will manage multiple P&L’s with responsibilities including transaction posting, forecasting, reporting and business partnering.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing all Support Office costs including payroll, staff expenses and operational expenses.

• Producing consolidated P&L packs for all Support Office departments containing analysis and insight into spend incurred along with identification of risks and opportunities.

• Delivering month end accounts including accruals, prepayments and bridging to understand variances to target.

• Producing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

• Producing forecasts and budgets by departments and cost centre.

• Business partnering stakeholders to review actuals and update forecasts.

• Responsibility for Support Office audit queries

What we are looking for: 

• Someone highly numerate with an analytical background and strong attention to detail.

• Advanced Excel skills are essential.

• Part Qualified (finalist of CIMA, ACCA, ACA), or with significant Commercial Finance experience.

• Commercially minded – quick to understand the business and identify risks & opportunities.

• Confidence to articulate the output of your analysis and challenge both the approach and results when necessary.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver desired outcomes.

• Most importantly we are looking for someone with a proactive approach and the initiative to identify opportunities to drive improvement.
