Working with our Partners

Post Office Stores

In 2006, the Post Office joined us to deliver a full range of services within over 80 of our High Street stores. It was an innovative enterprise that has resulted in a positive outcome for all parties involved, most importantly our employees and customers.

The Post Office at WHSmith offers a wide range of opportunities to potential employees who are looking for something different. In order to be successful in this environment it is essential that you are sensitive to this tough economic climate and consistently strive to deliver value for money for all our customers.

Funky Pigeon

In 2010 we launched our online personalised greeting card offer through our Funky Pigeon brand. In 2011 this expanded with us opening our first Funky Pigeon store in Charing Cross train station.

Our customers love how we make it easy to personalise their greeting cards in our funky, contemporary stores and to ensure that these high expectations are maintained we look for creative, enthusiastic people who are comfortable working within a multi-channel environment to join our Funky Pigeon stores.

UNS Stores

In 2008 we acquired the UNS Group with stores located mainly in hospitals, followed by a small acquisition of Caffe Nuovo coffee bars.  We now have over 110 stores across the business providing a convenience range of products including food, drink and basic toiletries for both patients and hospital staff.

Being located in hospitals we look for people who’s strength lies in delivering consistently high customer service, being approachable and are sensitive to their working environment.

British Bookshop & Stationers

British Bookshops and Stationers grew during the 1980s and 1990s into a regional South East chain. In 2011, 22 stores joined us and we now continue to support these seaside communities.

A4e

In addition to us receiving applications from people directly for our Sales Assistant vacancies we are supported by a recruitment services organisation called A4e. They specialise in preparing long term unemployed people for work and / or work experience.

Their training programmes are designed to suit the needs of our business around the following elements;

  • Recognising the importance of customer service
  • Effective selling skills
  • Cash handling
  • Health and Safety
